ChatGPT has made the lives of many people easier. It allows you to streamline your workflow, express your creativity, and sharpen your skills.
It's natural if you become astounded by how good ChatGPT is when you start using it. You ask basically anything that comes to mind and it will give you an answer (unless you pose a controversial or unethical question).
You can ask the chatbot developed by OpenAI to write code, come up with marketing strategies, generate prompts for text-to-image models, and much more. The results you get will vary depending on exactly what and how you ask ChatGPT for help.
If you're interested in learning how to write better ChatGPT prompts, I suggest that you read my article on that topic. In that article, I give valuable advice on how to use different strategies to improve the quality of both your prompts and the generated results. But that's not what I'm going to do today.
Today I'm going to give you some of the best ChatGPT prompts that you can use to make your life easier. I'll also give you a few prompts that will provide you with endless entertainment.
Best ChatGPT Prompts for Midjourney & Other AI Image Tools
If you've used Midjourney before and recently began to experiment with ChatGPT, you're likely thinking that you can use the latter to generate cool prompts for the former. Your assumption is absolutely correct!
Although you can simply ask the chatbot to generate any number of prompts for Midjourney, I find that I get the best results when I add a bit more creativity and detail to my ChatGPT prompt. Here are some examples of my favorite ChatGPT prompts for Midjourney and other text-to-image models.
- "Write 5 prompts for text-to-image models that don't make any sense but could produce great art."
- "Write 5 prompts for text-to-image models with a lot of adjectives that describe a surreal sci-fi scene."
- "Write a short prompt for Midjourney describing the birth of the universe in the most abstract way possible."
- "Pretend that you're an art professor. Describe a painting you want a student of yours to make for an assignment. Your description should only be three sentences long and must mention a prominent artist whom the student must take inspiration from."
- "Take any random point in history and write a prompt describing it so that a text-to-image model can generate an image from it. Use adjectives in the prompt and make sure it isn't more than 2 sentences long."
- "Describe a random scene in nature that could be painted."
- "Use only 4 adjectives and 1 noun to generate a Midjourney prompt that could produce great art."
Let's break down some of these ChatGPT prompts. I'll start by saying that the first prompt I wrote above is probably my favorite one. Sometimes, I don't have enough inspiration to come up with creative prompts. This helps me overcome that problem and fuels me with creativity.
No matter how many times you ask ChatGPT to come up with prompts like these, it will always generate unique answers. The same goes for the fifth and sixth prompt, which generate a random scene.
I have to emphasize the importance of telling ChatGPT to use a lot of adjectives in a prompt like the second one on the list above. Adjectives play a key role in defining how the art you generate with text-to-image models will look.
Finally, the last prompt on my short list should be used when you want an extremely concise prompt. You can generate a lot of cool art if you use only four adjectives and a noun.
Best ChatGPT Prompts for Blogging
Many bloggers have started using ChatGPT to improve their efficiency and become better at writing content. If you use the chatbot right, you can significantly boost your skills.
While you can simply ask ChatGPT to write a full article on any given topic, it's a much better strategy to have it perform more specific tasks. Here are some of the best ChatGPT prompts for blogging.
- "I want to write an article about <insert topic>. Recommend 10 eye-catching article titles for it."
- "I want to write a series of blogs in the travel category about Iceland. I want you to come up with a list of topics that I could cover in this blog series. Come up with two titles for each topic."
- "Generate an outline for an article about <insert topic>."
- "Write a short article about <insert topic> and make sure that you include the following keywords..."
- "Explain <insert complex subject> in a way that a wide audience could understand it."
- "Pretend that you're a science professor at a high school. I want you to explain how rocket engines work to your students."
- "Pretend that you're a fitness trainer who used to be overweight. I want you to really get into the character. Mention your previous struggles and how you overcame them. Use these to write a short blog on how drinking smoothies helped you develop healthier eating habits."
If you're anything like me, you're not particularly fond of writing titles for articles. It sometimes takes me longer to come up with an article title than to write the first 500 words. This is where ChatGPT really comes in handy for me.
I use the chatbot constantly to come up with good titles. In the first two examples of ChatGPT prompts for blogging, I use a very direct and simple way to get what I need.
The results are so good that I often use them as is. Sometimes, I feel the need to make a few tweaks to make them better. Regardless, it saves me a ton of time.
I also use the chatbot to generate outlines for articles. I love when I ask ChatGPT to explain a concept to a mass audience. It helps me convey the message inside my articles much clearer.
Finally, I feel it's a great strategy to assign ChatGPT a certain role and provide at least a few details when I ask it to write content for me.
This makes the content more relatable. It also requires me to spend less time editing it. I give the chatbot different roles to find out which tone works for a specific topic. I also sometimes only use a paragraph that I truly like and write the remainder of the article myself.
Best ChatGPT Prompts for Education
Certain teachers have voiced their concerns over ChatGPT being available to students, who have quickly learned how they can use it to finish school assignments. Then there are also teachers who began to embrace the technology and learned they can leverage it as a teaching tool.
There is no doubt that this chatbot (and other large language models that'll be released in the future) can help kids learn faster. Even if you're an adult and finished school a long time ago, you can still use ChatGPT to learn more about any topic you're interested in.
When it comes to using ChatGPT for education, here are some of my favorite prompts:
- "Let's play a little game. I'm going to write the name of a country and you give me five interesting historical facts about it."
- "Pretend that you're an editor for an established magazine. I will give you an article I wrote and I want you to critique. Feel free to provide feedback even if it's harsh."
- "It's been a very long time since I practiced my Spanish. I want you to act as my Spanish teacher and give me some basic exercises so that I can brush up on my skills."
- "I have an important debate coming up and I need a partner I can practice with. I want you to debate me. Come up with a random topic every time I type [START]. We each get three paragraphs to make our points."
- "I want to give my students a quiz on the American Civil War tomorrow. I need you to come up with 20 multiple-choice questions regarding the war."
- "My students have a hard time understanding how probability works. I need you to write an explanation that uses modern references so they have a better time understanding it."
- "Write a short, funny poem that will describe to students the hardships they'll face in life if they don't learn mathematics properly."
The first prompt is basically an example of a game you can play with ChatGPT. You can make many variations to a game like this so that you have a fun way of learning new information.
You can always ask the chatbot to go into detail about any event. If a particular event interests you, feel free to take a detour and resume the game later.
The next three prompts can also be tweaked to help you sharpen just about any skill you can think of.
The last three ChatGPT prompts for education are perfect for teachers. You can use this chatbot to generate questions for quizzes or take a different approach to explaining a concept your students have a hard time understanding.
As you can see, the chatbot can also generate funny poems that can help you make a better impression on your students. This is great for when you're introducing yourself to a new generation of students.
Best ChatGPT Prompts for Marketing
You can use ChatGPT for marketing in multiple ways. One way is to boost SEO on your website. I've actually written an article about how to leverage ChatGPT for SEO. You can find some good prompts there.
Another way to use ChatGPT for marketing is to write short-form content for social media pages. You can even use the chatbot to write treatments for video ads. Regardless of whether you're looking to promote products or services, ChatGPT has your back.
Here are some of the best ChatGPT prompts for marketing.
- "I have made a heavy duty scrub sponge that's better than anything else on the market now. I need you to create a treatment for a video ad for it. It's called Mr. Scrubs. I want the narrator in the ad to be very enthusiastic and explain why people could benefit from using Mr. Scrubs. It's cheaper than alternatives and it lasts longer than any other scrub sponge. Don't make it sound like any other ad on TV. It should be unconventional."
- "I'm planning on starting a social media campaign for my new line of hand-made Belgian chocolates. I want you to create 5 eye-catching tweets and Instagram post descriptions that I can use to promote my new line of chocolates, called Bisous. The name is the French word for 'kisses'"
- "Give me an idea on how I could promote my new product <insert product description> on social media."
- "I need you to write a meta description for my article titled <insert article title>. The description should not be longer than 156 characters."
- "I recently designed and manufactured a small batch of plush penguin toys. My friends' kids absolutely love them, but I still don't have a name for them. Give me 10 ideas for a name."
Let's break it down. The first prompt is for a TV or YouTube ad. It's important to provide details for ChatGPT so that it can work its magic. You should also explain which tone the narrator should use in the ad. If you want to have a dialogue between different characters, you should mention that.
I won't post the full ad treatment, but the result I got here was pretty conventional for an ad. However, it's still much better than the response you'd get if you didn't mention that it shouldn't sound like any other ad on TV. Adding more context is always helpful to get your desired result.
The second prompt is an idea of how to use ChatGPT to promote your products on social media. It's important to add context here as well, as it drastically improves the results.
The third prompt is great if you want to brainstorm marketing strategies. The fourth prompt can save you a ton of time when you're writing meta descriptions.
Finally, you may get stuck when you're trying to come up with names for the products that you're developing. This is another area in which ChatGPT can help you. Just make sure that you take the time to research whether any products with the name recommended to you already exist.
Best ChatGPT Prompts for Entertainment
When you're not using ChatGPT for something useful in your professional life, you can use it as a source of entertainment. There are many ways that the chatbot will keep you entertained, whether you're using it by yourself or with a group of friends.
I saw from one Reddit user that they created an epic Dungeons & Dragons prompt. I love when I come across people being creative with their prompts.
Here are some of my best ChatGPT prompts for entertainment.
- "Let's play a text-based adventure game. I want you to briefly recommend five potential stories for the game. I'll pick the one I like and we'll start the game from there."
- "Write a comedy bit that involves both Jerry Seinfeld and Joe Rogan standing on stage and going back and forth."
- "I'm hanging out with a few friends right now and we want to play trivia. Can you generate questions that cover a wide range of topics? Please give us the questions one by one. We will submit the answers to the questions. Only after we answer the current question should you tell us the correct answer and pose the next question. There are 4 players, their names are Claire, Mark, Julia, and Anthony. Keep score for each player."
- "Let's play two truths and a lie. I want you to increase the game difficulty as much as possible."
- "Write lyrics for a trap song in the style of Lil Pump about pulsating quasars."
It's always a delight to play text-based adventure games with ChatGPT. You can ask the chatbot to generate different stories so you can pick the one you like best.
There's also the option for you to create your own story. I wrote about this in an article I've written about making a text-based adventure game in ChatGPT.
If you want to laugh, you can ask the chatbot to write a joke in the style of your favorite comedian. Better yet, you can ask it to do a collaboration between two comedians with different styles to see what it generates. The results are often hilarious.
As you see from the third prompt above, you can use ChatGPT for a trivia night with your friends. You can also play games like two truths and a lie.
Finally, you can ask it to write a song about any topic you want for a good laugh.
Bonus Prompt Combos!
I was watching the Da Ali G Show just before I started writing this article. It had a funny segment that I always loved, in which he interviews a few guests at the same time and then asks them to give one word at the end of the interview so he can do a ridiculous freestyle. Many of you won't get this reference, but I'll leave it here anyway.
Watching the show got me thinking maybe I can do something similar with these prompts. I can combine ideas from each category to create two prompt combos. Please do not take the following prompts seriously. This was done only for entertainment purposes.
- "Let's play a game. I'm going to give you the name of a prominent historical figure and you take one event they're known for and promote it as part of your travel agency package. This is not a standard travel ad, since you own the only agency in the world that allows you to travel back in time. Your travel packages include traveling back in time to meet the prominent figure and see the event play out. The ad should be written in the voice of Joe Rogan.
Once you finish generating the ad, write a prompt that I could use to generate an image on Midjourney that showcase Joe Rogan seeing the event play out with aliens watching it with him.
Let's start with Napoleon Bonaparte." - "Pretend that you're a genius marketer. Create a treatment for a commercial about a chocolate and peanut bar called MAX SUGAR. Halfway through the commercial, Larry David should come in and tell the audience the funding for the chocolate bar has been cut off. Explain to your audience that the bar won't be produced and that instead people can imagine what it looks like by using a detailed Midjourney prompt that you'll come up with. The commercial must include the exact prompt people can use to generate an image of the MAX SUGAR bar in Midjourney.
This is your genius idea for a commercial about Midjourney."
These prompts are about as random as it gets. But that's kind of my whole point here. You can tell ChatGPT to do so many things in a single prompt and it will generate the perfect response.
Now let's see what type of results will be generated from these prompts.
I expected nothing less from a prompt that's as random as the one I wrote. It made me laugh a couple of times and I think Joe Rogan would be the perfect person to promote a time travel agency.
I like the treatment ChatGPT came up with for this silly commercial. It also included the Midjourney prompt, just like I asked. I'm very impressed with the result of this prompt.
Final Thoughts
While I feel like I've covered a lot of interesting prompts in this article, there are some categories that I didn't even have a chance to touch on without this article being way too long. That's why I have a special announcement to make right now.
This is only the first part of the best ChatGPT prompts series! I believe that using prompts like the ones I mentioned in this article will help you get a better understanding of what OpenAI's chatbot is capable of. Using the right prompts will also make it easier for you to interact with other AI-powered tools once they get released.
Feel free to use any of the prompts mentioned in this article for professional or entertainment purposes. You should also make tweaks to the prompts however you see fit to get your desired results.
